ABOUT THIS MEETING
Spatial extremesRisk assessment in various fields often requires extrapolation beyond the range of available data. Extreme value theory is a branch of probability and statistics that aims to provide theoretically sound procedures for this task. It is particularly challenging for spatial applications, when it is necessary to consider the spatial extent of extreme events. In this workshop we take a closer look at different ways of dealing with such spatial dependencies and discuss their mathematical and practical challenges.
